Transparent components with integrated micro-wire heating, manufactured to technical specification
Transparent components with integrated micro-heating wires feature a network of tungsten filaments embedded between the material layers, connected to side busbars. The flow of current generates heat that is distributed evenly across the surface, providing effective active defogging and defrosting without compromising the component’s optical quality.
LIRAS Optical manufactures micro-wire heated components from drawings or technical specifications using autoclave lamination, micro-wire integration, clean-room assembly and final optical and visual inspection.
FEATURES
Available materials and configurations
Laminated transparent components are developed for the following industries and performance requirements.
Automotive and Motorsport: Heated windshields eliminate condensation during rapid temperature changes, ensuring safety and visibility in the paddock and during races.
Aerospace: heated glazing is developed for aircraft operating at altitude, where ice formation can impair pilot visibility.
Special-purpose vehicles: Heated windshields and rear windows ensure continuous operation even at low temperatures and in harsh weather conditions.
Earthmoving: operator-cab glazing is developed for outdoor working environments involving low temperatures, fog and high humidity.
Components are available in polycarbonate or PMMA, with tungsten filaments only a few microns thick and busbars sized for different operating voltages, based on the customer's drawing or technical specification.
