Polycarbonate and PMMA canopies, fairing screens and wind deflectors are curved engineered transparencies designed to enclose cockpits and cabins or deflect airflow in applications where optical quality, low weight and dimensional stability are critical.

LIRAS Optical manufactures custom canopies, fairing screens and wind deflectors from drawings, samples or technical specifications using thermoforming, CNC machining - including for complex double-curved geometries - functional treatments and final optical and visual inspection.

Available materials and configurations

Laminated transparent components are developed for the following industries and performance requirements.

  • Aerospace and light aviation: canopies and cockpit transparencies are manufactured with high optical quality, low weight and dimensional stability, with hard coating and anti-fog treatment available on request.
  • Motorsport: cockpit screens are developed from a team-supplied sample or manufacturer specification, with strength suited to racing applications.
  • Marine: canopies and covers are integrated into the vessel design using materials selected for resistance to weathering.
  • Motorcycles and powersports: fairing screens and wind deflectors are manufactured with geometries integrated into the vehicle design, scratch-resistant treatment and UV resistance.

Components are available in polycarbonate or PMMA, with curved or double-curved geometries and hard coating or anti-fog treatment where specified, based on a drawing or physical sample supplied by the customer.
